Before deciding to embark on a Neighbourhood Plan the Parish Council organised an open meeting to discuss the possible benefits and to see whether parishioners were supportive of the idea.
Presentations were given by a Planning Officers from the Borough Council and a representative of the Brancaster Neighbourhood Plan Team who had recently had their plan adopted and were able to share their collective knowledge and experience.
The meeting was very well attended and an informal vote taken at the end indicated overwhelming support to proceed. For details of the meeting click here.
Consultation on the area to be covered by a Neighbourhood Plan is a statutory requirement and this was carried out by the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk.

The second consultation event was organised to coincide with the Annual Parish Meeting in May 2016. The aim was to explain the background to the work of the Neighbourhood Plan Team and their approach. The findings of some preliminary evidence gathering tasks were also presented. The event was focused around a small exhibition in the Village Hall. This was subsequently moved to St Mary’s Church where it remained throughout the summer for the benefit of second homeowners and visitors to the Parish.

The first set of results from the Questionnaire Survey was presented at the Parish Council meeting held in the Village Hall on 06 September 2016. The exhibition was subsequently moved to St Mary’s Church where it remained until early December for the benefit of parishioners who were unable to view in the Village Hall and to inform visitors to Holme about the work of the Neighbourhood Plan.

The Parish Council arranged this consultation event to report on progress and give parishioners the opportunity to have further input to the Plan. It was held in the Village Hall from 1pm – 7pm on 05 January 2017. More than 50 people attended including residents, second homeowners and representatives of neighbouring parishes.
People were invited to drop in at any time and encouraged to provide feedback. Parish Councillors and representatives of the Neighbourhood Plan Team were available to guide people around the display panels, to answer questions and discuss comments and ideas. Before leaving people were encouraged to contribute ideas for a SWOT Analysis by recording their views on the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats in the Parish. These have been compiled into a document which can be found on the Downloads page of this site.
This event included a large display of posters. These included a substantial amount of new material for the evidence base and a selection of material from previous exhibitions for the benefit of those who had been unable to attend (see Consultations 4 and 5). Printed copies of reports were also made available. Click on the links below to see the main content of the posters (warning - some of the posters are very large and may take a long time to display).
